Sewing again

I made this card for a work colleague who is due to retire soon but past the 11th hour got a reprieve of another month's work! Never mind, she loved it and I am very pleased with this card. It's a shame the glitter doesn't show up on the scan. Thanks for looking, Rosie

Rabbits

My darling twin granddaughters were 4 yesterday - where has the time gone? I made these cards for them and their 5 year old brother thought they were dogs! I don't think I could have made them more rabbit like lol! Thanks for looking, Rosie

Inky fingers!

I really wish you could see the shimmer on this card. I spray glimmer mists and spray paints inside an old shoe box. Rather than waste my precious inks, I place a spare piece of paper or card at the bottom to mop up any excess. The background paper was such a piece but it looks fantastic with a combination of cranberry, gold and honey dew. The tag was stamped (Elusive Images stamp) and then sprayed with honey dew and the scrolls round the outer edge with green stazon (edge part of the daisy butterfly collage stamp, again from E.I.) Everyone will know what I've been doing by my fingers now! Rose

Beading

I have just discovered beading and have made a couple of cards - one as a thank you and one as an anniversary. Hope they are liked and appreciated. The weather has been scorching so I sat in the shade in the garden creating these - lovely way to relax. Cheers Rosie

Back to normal?

Thanks to everyone who has sent get well and best wishes messages for my sis in law. She is so much better, out of hospital and getting back into the swing of things. Life is slowly getting back to normal, or as normal as things get around here. We've had this week off work and have decorated the hall, stairs and landing, spent time with our grandchildren, had a day at the beach near Swansea and a bit of retail therapy at the Designer Outlet Mall on the way home, been visiting with a friend and my husband has played a few rounds of golf. So, all in all, we weren't sloths this week by any means. I have made a couple of cards - one as a thank you for the nurses and one for a friend who is having a rough time at the moment. Friends

We all know how important friends can be when the going gets tough. One of my dear cyber friends has sent us this card to wish Jennie a swift recovery. We took it to hospital when visiting last night and Jennie could hardly believe someone even we have never met in the flesh was so kind as to send this masterpiece. See what you think eh? Get well Jennie

My sister in law came to stay and when she arrived she was most unwell. She was admitted to our local Hospital and has now been transferred to a Birmingham specialist unit. I made this card and took it to her this afternoon. We all hope she is on the road to recovery and it won't be too long before she's back with us for a healthy visit. Get well soon Jennie, Love Rosie

Doodling

Sitting here tonight reading emails I found myself doodling on a scrap of water colour paper with my new Inktense pencil. I then brushed over with my water brush and here it is. Some clever clogs is bound to analyse it and tell me my innermost desires ha-ha! Rosie

Weddings are in the air

I have been asked to show some invitations made previously. All are rubber stamps from Elusive Images. There's me thinking spring and summer are coming and a friend emailed me this mroning to say IT is only 9 months to go - what is she like? Rosie

Spring

This is my orchid, happily neglected on the window sill for about 10 months of the year and these are this years flowers. I do love my flowers and houseplants. Today the sun is shining and the daffodils are in bloom, my neighbour has frogs spawn in the pond so I really think spring has come. Thanks to everyone for their kind messages of support and sympathy during these past few sad weeks, Rosie

Sad news

Laura was the best mother in law anyone could have hoped for. She was always cheerful, witty, honest with an avid interest in family members, crosswords and world affairs. Being one of 7 children, a mother of 5, grandmother of 4, great grandmother of 6 she will be sorely missed by all members of the family. 1930 - 2009 Laura Privett R.I.P.

The sun is shining

What a difference a couple of weeks makes with the weather. Today the sun is really warm on my back as I type this and such a contrast to the recent minus temperatures and snow. The bulbs are starting to come through and on Marshall's walk yesterday we passed a garden full of lilac crocii - so pretty! So, I was inspired to leave drab winter colours and create something pretty. The background paper is sprayed with pink taffy glimmer mist, the flower ( from EI) stamped onto white and cut out then painted with a fuschia inktense pencil. I added a bit of glitter and hey presto! Thanks for looking

New Butterfly stamps

Elusive Images are bringing out a new range of butterfly collage stamps which I think are gorgeous! The background butterflies on this card are on acetate and the image is stamped onto hand made paper and coloured with chalk pencils. The ribbon was from a chocolate box at Christmas - recycling is the way to go!



The blue card has images from the daisy butter-fly collage set. This card is by way of a thank you to a friend giving us tremendous support with regards to my dear Mother in Law who is still in hospital and affected by her stroke. The background card and paper I used pink and blue glimmer mists and then stamped with dark blue stazon ink.

Emotional time

The last 3 weeks I feel as if I have been on an emotional rollercoaster. My dear Mother in Law was rushed into hospital and we were told by the Drs to expect the worse. However, she has rallied and is fighting back having suffered a stroke. I have not felt like posting or making cards until this week, plus we've had visits to London and hospital visiting to fit in around work commitments. I made this card on Wednesday evening. The scanner has changed the colours on this card into something quite lovely - the shiny blue was actually silver holographic tiny dots. To cheer myself up, I have bought some more rubber stamps to add to my collection. Hopefully they will see ink this weekend and I'll have something else new to show. Thanks for reading, Cheers Rosie

This week

I was asked this week what makes a good card - hard question to answer. There are so many card making techniques to choose from so my advice is to experiment, play, have fun and find your own style. Once you find the medium you are happy with, the cards will turn out just fine. This House Mouse image was stamped and then painted with inktense pencils, my favourite of the moment as they give such wonderful colours. Cheers Rosie

Remember

As some of you will know, both my parents died from Alzheimers which in some respects is harder on the family than the affected. A friend of mine has lost her Mum to this terrible condition and so I made her a card as I know exactly how she is feeling with very mixed emotions. The card is hand painted with Derwent's inktense pencils, blended with a waterbrush.

Happy New Year to all my friends and here's to a healthy and prosperous 2009! I start my new job tomorrow so am feeling it's a new year and a new start and I am hoping to leave all the bad stuff behind in 2008! Cheers Rosie
