I am so fortunate to have my hands on the new Harlequin Rose themeplate from Elusive Images. I really wish the scanner could pick up the shimmer I created on this card. The handmade paper I sprayed with Tattered Angels gold and pearl glimmer mists and the stamped image I used a VersaMagic dew drop ink pad in Red Brick then embossed with holographic powder. The rose was painted with inktense pencils and matted onto gold angel hair. This card will go to a good home. It makes a change from making Christmas cards, doesn't it! Rosie

Celebrations

Happy Christmas to you all! This is such a busy time of year and although full of good intentions and ideas of posting here every week, that isn't happening!

I made this card for some very good friends in Arizona and I think it's most appropriate. Hope they like it. Here's to a fine 2009, Rosie

My CRB check came through today so I'm just waiting for my offical start date for my new job! I am quite excited - can you tell? I made this card for my neighbour's silver wedding. Cheers Rosie

Blue

I've been feeling a bit blue with a cold given to me by my darling grandchildren I suspect. Made this card last night to go with my mood. The scrummy paper is from Artylicious Season's Greetings CD . Cheered myself up after work tonight by visiting the hairdressers so I look a bit more presentable now. Still waiting for my CRB check to come back and therefore still waiting to start my new job grrrrrrrrrrr! I chased my CRB today and was told it is with the police department and will be done when it's done. They say patience is a virtue - I am getting so good ha-ha-ha!

Dentist

I had to go to the dentist this afternoon and was in the chair for 74 minutes! I now have a temporary crown and have to go back for the real thing to be fitted in a fortnight. I'm such a scaredy cat! Last night to take my mind off worrying about the coming ordeal I made this card. The stamps are from Elusive Images - the butterfly is a stamp for stitching and I overstamped the curly dragonfly onto the background paper which is computer generated. Cheers Rosie

First commissioned Christmas card for 2008

I received a very unexpected telephone call asking me to make a special Christmas card for someone's work colleague. This is the first dufex Christmas image I've made a card with and was pleased with the result, as was my customer. I donate the proceeds from my cards to our local Hospice who rely so much on fundraising.

Busy time

I have had such a busy time this week - a friends birthday, another friend had a baby boy, friends wedding anniversary plus a poorly friend who needed to be cheered up with a get well card.

Then of course I've had to make a start on Christmas cards.

On a different tack, we decided that rather than take out Gym membership we would buy a Wii and Wii fit which arrived last weekend. I cannot believe how much fun playing tennis and going bowling has been, nor how bad I felt knocking my husband out boxing! Still, we are keeping fit and happy! Cheers Rosie

Can't believe it is November

Where does the time fly? I was told it is only 55 days to Christmas and that's scary! I've made a start on my Christmas cards thanks to a friends challenge. I've sewn it with embroidery threads and added large sequin stars. Cheers Rosie

Good news

I went for an interview on Friday and was offered the job this morning. I am over the moon! The job is permanent as a hospital receptionist in an out patient department. So, as soon as the paper work is completed, I shall not be an agency worker any more.

This card is one I made in the summer, playing with various stamps to make my own collage. I call her Lavender Lady!

Another week

Thank you

I had to make a thank you card and thought I'd pop it on here to show you. The image was stamped (one of Elusive Images Stamps for Stitching) and then I coloured it in with water colour pencils prior to stitching. This gives a totally different effect from my normal stitching and I and the recipient rather like it!

This week time has flown

I can hardly believe it's a week since I last posted on here. Where does the time go? I've been offered another 2 months work at the Council which I'm pleased about but didn't get the job I went for which I'm not so pleased about! Hey ho, that's life and there's not much I can do about it!. I bought an embossing & stitching stencil and made this card. The Madeira sparkle thread really does!

Friends

An old friend rang me this evening. We haven't spoken in quite a while yet it was just as if we last spoke yesterday! I guess that's a sign of good friendship, picking up conversations where we last left off! I have made this card for another good friend, just because that's what she is!

I've got a job - woo-hoo!

It may only be temporary through one of the agencies in town but I shall be back in the land of the employed very soon.

Last week was our 31st Wedding Anniversary and I'm so pleased to have received some wonderful cards from friends.

What a day!

Being out of work (temporarily I hope) has brought about it's own challenges, mainly time management. No longer having to fit household chores around 9-5:30 work I can take my time and I have to say the house has definitely benefited and looks less lived in! My front door brass is shining and Marshall dog and I are getting fitter from longer walks. Yesterday we got stopped by the police and asked where we lived - I wonder why? I had no rucksack nor handbag with me - did they suspect the doggy bag contained anything that it shouldn't? I shall probably never know. Here's a picture of our very protective Staffie/Dalmation boy!

Being creative

Being creative can sometimes be a wonderful experience when the ideas just seem to flow. Today has not been one of those days! Tomorrow is another day - maybe I'll get to finish some of my work scattered around.
